Watch: Pak Leader Shibli Faraz Praises India For Conducting Smooth Elections

Shibli Faraz, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Pakistan, commended India for its successful conduct of the Lok Sabha elections and criticized Pakistan’s electoral system. Despite referring to India as an “enemy country,” Faraz did not hold back in expressing his disappointment over Pakistan’s electoral shortcomings.

Shibli Faraz Praises India For Conducting Smooth Elections

In his speech, Faraz praised India for conducting smooth, free, and fair elections in the world’s largest democracy. He highlighted India’s use of EVMs, the announcement of results, and the peaceful transfer of power without any fraud allegations. Faraz questioned why Pakistan could not achieve the same level of success in its elections.

He stated, “I want to quote the example of our enemy country, they just concluded elections. More than 800 million people cast their vote. They had set up thousands of polling stations. They even made a polling station for a single person. Nobody said the election was rigged. We also want to be in the same league. In our country, nobody agrees. This is damaging our election system.”

By-Elections In Pakistan

By-elections in Pakistan were held on February 8 for 21 national and provincial assembly seats. The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, won at least two national and 10 provincial assembly seats, according to unofficial results.

Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) criticized the by-elections, stating that April 21 would be remembered as a “black day” in Pakistan’s history due to open and blatant violations of the law.

Narendra Modi Secured Historic Third Term As Prime Minister

In contrast, in India, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leader Narendra Modi secured a historic third term as Prime Minister after the alliance crossed the majority mark, winning 303 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The elections, known as the largest in the world, witnessed a significant 65.79% voter turnout.

Following the conclusion of the vote counting and the declaration of results on June 4, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest single party with 240 Lok Sabha seats, falling 32 seats short of the majority mark. With the support of NDA partners like the TDP and JDU, the NDA surpassed the required majority of 272, reaching a tally of 292. With additional support from small parties and independent candidates, the BJP-led NDA now stands ‘300 paar’.
