Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their 17-year losing streak in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs in Match 8 of IPL 2025. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team walked in as favourites, but Rajat Patidar and team delivered a breathtaking victory, RCB’s first victory in Chennai since 2008.
Virat Kohli Celebrate in Style
As expected, the RCB team went wild celebrating, spearheaded by Virat Kohli. In the dressing room, the ex-India captain was caught dancing to Humankind’s Run It Up, clearly excited about the team’s victory against the five-time IPL champions.
The celebrations didn’t stop there. Once the team returned to their hotel, Kohli continued grooving to the same track. Even teammates like Lungi Ngidi, Liam Livingstone, and Phil Salt joined in, expressing their excitement.
RCB’s official Instagram handle shared a video of the jubilant moment, captioning it, “A win so special, it got King Kohli grooving. This team! The vibes! We’re loving it.”

Even in the jubilant win, Kohli struggled in his batting innings. He accumulated 31 runs from 30 deliveries, getting his timing off for the larger part of his innings. His strike rate fell below 100 for a good amount of time before he played a six and a four from Matheesha Pathirana’s bowling, bringing some respectability to his innings.
RCB registered a good score of 196/7 in 20 overs after being compelled to bat first. The pick of the batsmen included Rajat Patidar (51 off 32), Phil Salt (32 off 16), and Tim David (22 off 8).
RCB’s Bowling Seals the Victory
Shielding the target, RCB’s bowlers took control as CSK was limited to 146/8. Josh Hazlewood struck the first blow, sending Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad back in the second over. Yash Dayal and Liam Livingstone also chipped in with two wickets apiece, helping the visitors to a comfortable victory.
With this win, RCB is now at the top of the IPL 2025 table.
