A heavy downpour on Sunday afternoon disrupted traffic on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway for nearly half an hour. The rain, which lasted about 15 minutes, led to knee-deep waterlogging between Amrutanjan Point and the Bor Ghat tunnel.
According to expressway authorities, the downpour began around 4 pm. A senior police officer from the state Highway Safety Patrol (HSP) stated, “The heavy rain lasted for almost a quarter of an hour. This caused mist to develop as well as waterlogging on the Pune corridor of the expressway.”

As a safety precaution due to the flooding, HSP officers halted all vehicular movement on the expressway for about 20 minutes. Once the water receded, traffic resumed. The police officer mentioned, “Vehicular movement on the expressway returned to normalcy around 5 pm.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police, HSP, Gajanan Tompe, informed TOI on Sunday evening, “Vehicles are moving at a slow speed in the Khandala ghat section following the downpour. Our teams are manning traffic at the location.”
