US Man Kills His Friend For ‘Quitting Alcohol’: From Cheers To Tears

Jeremy Allen, a 43-year-old man from Long Island, has been charged with murder following the death of his friend, Christopher Hahn, also 43, during a violent altercation in the Hamptons early Saturday morning. Authorities found Hahn’s body concealed under a tarp on Allen’s back patio.

Heated Argument Turns Fatal

Reports suggest that the two friends were drinking together and discussing plans for a 12-step recovery program when their conversation turned aggressive. Prosecutors allege that Allen assaulted Hahn for approximately six hours before fatally stabbing him in the head and neck with a large knife. Suffolk County prosecutor Elena Tomaro characterized the attack as “brutal and heinous to witness.”

History of Alcohol-Related Offenses

Allen’s attorney stated that both men had been drinking heavily prior to the incident. Allen has a history of drunk driving offenses dating back to 2007, raising significant concerns about his behavior during the altercation.

Cleanup Attempt Leads to Discovery

Following the attack, Allen reached out to a local handyman for assistance in cleaning up the scene. However, the handyman discovered the bloodied body and promptly contacted Southampton Town Police. Officers arrived shortly before 10 a.m. and pronounced Hahn dead at the scene.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Jeremy Allen was arrested approximately an hour later and appeared in court on Sunday, where he was ordered to be held without bail. In addition to the murder charge, Allen is facing a pending rape case in Southampton and is currently on probation for a drunk driving conviction from 2022 in Ulster County.

Parallel Case in Ohio

This incident in Long Island parallels a troubling case in Ohio, where 40-year-old Kenneth Mortimer was charged with murder after fatally stabbing his mother during a heated argument. The confrontation in Green Township escalated when Mortimer’s mother refused his request to stay overnight at their family home. Mortimer allegedly retrieved a knife from the kitchen and attacked both of his parents, leading to his mother’s death and serious injuries to his father. Although Mortimer fled the scene, he was later apprehended by police.
