Student Praises IIT Bombay: A ‘Tech Nerd’s Paradise’ in Viral Post

A student currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has garnered attention with his enthusiastic review of the institute, calling it a “tech nerd’s paradise” in a viral post on X (formerly Twitter). Vijendra Kumar Vaishya, who is a month into his master’s program, shared his experiences of studying and living at IIT Bombay, which quickly became popular online.

Impressions of IIT Bombay

In his post, Vijendra highlighted several aspects of his experience that impressed him. He praised the institute’s “fantastic” lab crew and the Computer Science department, noting the prevalence of students working on their laptops.

“It’s been a month at IIT Bombay, I am living my dream college life making friends, connections, and all the fun,” Vijendra wrote, summarizing his experience in seven key points.

Life at IIT Bombay

No Hostel Restrictions: Vijendra appreciated that IIT Bombay’s hostels have no curfew. “Yes, you read that right—girls’ hostels don’t lock up either!” he noted.

Class Schedule: He mentioned that he has classes only two days a week, allowing him plenty of time for other activities.

A Tech Nerd’s Paradise: “The CSE department is like a tech nerd’s paradise. You’ll find people with their laptops and endless coffee, and plenty of chill spots to hang out,” Vijendra observed.

Supportive Lab Crew: He was highly impressed with the lab staff, describing them as very helpful and approachable. “The lab crew is fantastic—any question, just ask. Seniors are always around to help, and they’re not even grumpy about it!” he said.

Hostel Life at IIT Bombay

Cozy Hostels: Vijendra described the hostels as “cozy,” though he often ends up staying at the CSE department rather than returning to his room at night. “The campus is basically one giant study hall,” he commented.

24/7 Food Service: Unlike many students who struggle with hostel food, Vijendra mentioned that food can be ordered at any time.

Busy Schedule: He humorously noted, “You’ll be too busy to date. Your new love affair will be labs, assignments, and events.”

Amenities: Concluding his post, he highlighted the various amenities available at the institute, including a gym, a hospital, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. “Basically, if you’re not studying, you’re working out or swimming,” he added.

Vijendra’s enthusiastic portrayal of life at IIT Bombay has resonated with many, showcasing the unique environment and opportunities the institute offers.
