Thailand Introduces Digital Entry Card Rule for Tourists Starting May 1

Famous for its beautiful beaches, cosmopolitan cities, tranquil villages, and grand temples, Thailand remains among the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. With summer tourism gathering momentum, the Thai government is introducing a new entry regulation to streamline the arrival process and render it more effective.

Mandatory TDAC for All Foreign Arrivals

Beginning May 1, all foreign nationals traveling to Thailand by land, air, or sea—will be expected to fill out and submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) prior to travel. The TDAC is to be completed before boarding an airplane or entering Thai borders. Officials say the action is aimed at ‘improving the overall experience for tourists and residents alike’.

What the TDAC Includes

Visitors can submit their electronic arrival card a maximum of 72 hours in advance. The TDAC form is divided into three major sections:

Personal Details – This encompasses simple facts such as full name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number.

Travel and Accommodation – The traveler is required to input facts such as arrival date, mode of travel, staying address in Thailand, and visit reason.

Health Declaration – This section inquires about your present state of health and countries travelled to in the last 14 days.

Once the form is submitted and their details confirmed, travellers will be issued their digital card by email. The card has to be presented at immigration when arriving in Thailand.

Step-by-Step: How to Complete the TDAC

  • Go to the official TDAC website.
  • Click on the ‘Arrival Card’ option.
  • Fill in all personal, travel, and health information required.
  • Carefully review the details before submitting.
  • Upon completion, the system will automatically produce your electronic arrival card.
  • Print and retain the card for immigration clearance upon arrival.
  • Important Note for Long-Stay Visitors

According to Thai immigration regulations, foreign nationals who reside in the country for more than 90 days have to report their present address to the closest immigration office shortly after they reach the 90-day mark. This is done again at 90-day intervals for the duration of their residency.
