A wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia took an unexpected turn on Wednesday, 26 November, when the stage set up for the bride and groom suddenly collapsed in the middle of the event. The mishap occurred at a busy moment, as the couple sat together on a couch placed at the centre of the raised platform and prepared to welcome guests.

The chaos unfolded after several BJP leaders stepped onto the stage to give their blessings. A video of the collapse, posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Vishal Jyoti Dev Agarwal, captured the scene. He shared it with the caption: “The reception stage collapsed while BJP district president and several other officials were climbing onto it to bless the newlywed couple.”

What Happened at the Venue

Ballia BJP president Sanjay Mishra later explained that the function was organised by the brother of BJP worker Abhishek Singh at Ramlila Maidan, where many party leaders had gathered. Mishra said the stage gave way the moment the leaders climbed onto it, sending everyone tumbling down.

According to him, the platform was poorly constructed, supported only by plywood without any strong base beneath. Because of this weak foundation, the stage could not handle the weight when around 12 to 14 people were standing on it. Mishra said no one was injured and added, “Munch aise bana tha neeche ply laga tha neeche koi support nahi tha.”

A person named Vishal JyotiDev Agarwal shared video on X.

Social Media Responds

The video triggered shock and concern among viewers on X. Many users expressed relief that the collapse did not result in serious injuries. One user wrote, “One of the worst things that can happen in anyone’s wedding,” while another commented, “Hope everyone is safe.”

Shared on 27 November 2025, the clip quickly gained traction online, gathering 3.9 lakh views along with hundreds of comments and reactions.
