In a bizarre and disturbing case, a Florida couple was arrested after being caught engaging in sexual activity on top of a grave inside a historic cemetery. Joseph Luke Brown and Stephanie Kay Wegman, both residents of Webster, reportedly trespassed into the cemetery by parking their white Nissan outside the locked gate and making their way to a secluded area toward the rear of the grounds.

The incident took place on March 26 and came to light when a state trooper noticed their unattended vehicle—registered to Wegman and her husband—with its windows down. Growing suspicious, the trooper began investigating and eventually found Brown and Wegman in the act.

“I observed a white male and female at the rear of the cemetery engaged in sexual activity,” the officer stated in his report, according to People. The cemetery, dating back to 1850 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2021, had long been abandoned, with the last burial recorded in 1924.

During a search of the couple’s vehicle, authorities discovered a stash of methamphetamine, Xanax, and oxycodone. Both individuals were arrested on drug possession charges. While Wegman was immediately booked into county jail, Brown, who was suffering from a pre-existing leg injury, was transported to a hospital. Police said a warrant was being sought for his formal arrest.

Wegman faces “two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and a single count of trafficking oxycodone,” according to the People report. Notably, she had previously been arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia just weeks before the cemetery incident. She remains in custody without bond and is expected to appear in court on April 12.
