The increase of digital arrest scams has prompted a prank to be played on an imposter, one masquerading as a police officer. The funny incident that unfolded, then posted on Instagram, was when the man presented his face to the camera following a claim of him coming from the Andheri East police station in Mumbai. He commanded that he show his face on camera. The man turned his small puppy in his direction and said, “Yeh lijiye, sir.”. Aagya main camera ke saamne,” placing the puppy in front of the camera.
The scammer, realizing he’s been pranked, smiles before turning his camera away and continues laughing. He says, “Arey yeh raha main. Arey, thanedaar. Dikhraha hai? Arey nakli vardi,” before quickly ending the call.
The funny conversation has already gone viral on Instagram. Users can’t stop laughing. One commented, “Scammer ke saath hi scam kardia,” and another said, “Indians are pretty talented when it comes to content.” The prank also earned the nickname “paw patrol,” with people jokingly calling the scammer a “pookie scammer” because of his smile.

In digital arrest scams, the scammer takes on the character of a law enforcement officer, such as a CBI agent or tax officer, calls the victim, and after sometimes moving to video call over platforms like WhatsApp or Skype, shows a fictitious digital arrest warrant where he charges the victim of committing financial crimes or violations in court. Sometimes, scammers use fake backdrops of police stations for the added effect.
They convince the victims to send money by asserting that they need to cleanse their names or pay a refundable deposit. After sending away the money, the crooks disappear, leaving only losses and identity theft with the victim.
