Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently issued an internal memo reinforcing the company’s return-to-office policy, stating that the office environment before the pandemic should be reinstated. Jassy emphasized that while remote work will be allowed in cases of illness, emergencies, or other specific situations, the standard expectation is for employees to work from the office, barring any approved Remote Work Exceptions.
The memo has sparked controversy, particularly in light of a new trailer for Prime Video’s remake of ‘The Office’.

The trailer, which features a joke about return-to-office (RTO) mandates, has drawn criticism on social media. A user commented, “Amazon dropping a trailer for a remake of ‘The Office’ about mandatory RTO we are so cooked.”
Another said, “Joke about how much RTO sucks on a show broadcast on Amazon.”
Others urged the streaming service to retract the trailer, with calls such as “Dear Prime. It’s not too late to delete this.”
The remake of ‘The Office’ on Prime Video’s Australia platform introduces a female boss, marking a new twist in the series originally popularized in the UK and later in the US.
