A survivor of today’s derailment of 12 coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Uttar Pradesh posted a video describing his narrow escape from the accident scene. Four of the derailed coaches were air-conditioned. Sadly, the incident claimed the lives of two passengers and left 20 others injured.
In the video, the survivor, standing near the derailed air-conditioned coaches, expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal, saying, “I narrowly escaped. It’s a miracle that I am alive. Please don’t worry about me. I am safe.” Behind him, fellow passengers can be seen visibly distraught, with some screaming and crying.
Senior railway and local administration officials are currently present at the accident site, overseeing rescue efforts. A 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances have been deployed to provide immediate assistance.
According to railway officials, the derailment occurred at 2:35 pm. The Railway Board has issued several helpline numbers for assistance: Commercial Control (9957555984), Furkating (9957555966), Mariani (6001882410), Simalguri (8789543798), Tinsukia (9957555959), and Dibrugarh (9957555960).
