In Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district, a Muslim family from Pure Aladdin village in Tiloi tehsil has created a unique wedding invitation for their daughter’s Nikah, designed in accordance with Hindu traditions. The card, which includes images of Lord Ganesha and Lord Krishna alongside the Muslim names of the bride, groom, and family members, has become popular on social media for its symbolic message of harmony.
Shabbir, known as Tiger and the father of the bride, explained that his daughter Saima Bano is marrying Irfan from Senpur village in Raebareli’s Maharajganj area. Shabbir revealed he chose to print two versions of the wedding card—one following Hindu customs and another aligning with Islamic traditions. He shared, “I have printed my daughter’s wedding card in two ways. One from Hindu religion and one from my religion. I am giving Hindu cards to Hindu friends and Muslim cards to Muslims. We have no dispute on religion. We live in unity.”
Shabbir further explained his intention behind this gesture, saying that by distributing Hindu-style cards to his Hindu friends, they would be more likely to preserve it respectfully, while his Muslim friends would appreciate the card in line with their beliefs. He shared his philosophy, saying, “Like their God is Allah, my God is Allah. Both are the same, only the way of believing is different.”
The gesture serves as a reminder of the spirit of Hindu-Muslim unity, and Shabbir hopes it will spread a message of communal harmony.
