Melania Trump’s legendary wedding dress, which was originally created by John Galliano for Christian Dior, has appeared on eBay for sale. The ivory duchesse satin, custom-designed gown, embellished with Swarovski crystals and a dramatic 13-foot train, was worn by Melania when she wed Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida, two decades ago. The gown, which was worth $100,000 and tipped the scales at 60 pounds, was sensationally gracing the cover of Vogue’s February 2005 issue, captured by Mario Testino.
One eBay seller, Svjabc1, auctioned the gown with a starting price of $45,000, claiming that she bought it for $70,000 for her wedding in 2010. The auction listing calls it a “Christian Dior wedding dress specifically designed by John Galliano for Melania Trump’s wedding to Donald Trump. United States PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP.”

But the gown being sold looks noticeably different from its original state. The strapless style now features detailed foliage-inspired beading, added shoulder straps, and a satin waist sash. The vendor demonstrated the changes by stating, “Since Melania Trump was a 0-2, I needed to have the dress slightly made larger because I was a size 4-6.” Some extra layers of satin, some embroidery, and some additional material were added, although she claimed that the original fit can be regained by the removal of such changes.
The sale boasts that the gown has only been used twice—once by Melania and once by the seller—and is in “good” condition, although it is not sold with a certificate of authenticity. Regardless, the auction has generated interest, with more than 3,500 views in the past 24 hours on eBay.
