A taxi driver who ferried Muskaan Rastogi and her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla, following the gruesome killing of her husband, Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput, has shared chilling accounts of their 15-day journey across Himachal Pradesh. Driver Ajab Singh, in an interview with India Today TV, said that there was no sign that Muskaan and Sahil had just committed the murder of the 29-year-old navy officer. He mentioned that during the travel to Shimla and Manali, the pair hardly communicated with each other, with Muskaan only receiving two calls from her mother while on the journey.
Singh also explained that Sahil, 27, used to drink two bottles of liquor per day, while Muskaan drank three beers that had been brought from Shamli upon their arrival in Himachal Pradesh. The duo also celebrated Holi. Singh narrated how Muskaan had sent him a WhatsApp audio message when she was in Shimla, requesting him to get Sahil’s birthday cake and not call her but rather just send her an SMS to alert her that the cake had been delivered.
On March 4, the murder day of Saurabh, Muskaan and Sahil had hired the Swift Dzire taxi for their journey, which covered Shimla and Manali. The couple remained in the region for 15 days, and the driver had no idea about any criminal activity. He disclosed that Sahil used to get drunk, buying one or two bottles of liquor a day. It was not until the journey back to Meerut that Singh noticed Muskaan drinking as well, realizing that she had also been consuming while on the journey.
Besides, a clip emerged of Muskaan and Sahil having attended a party for Holi, where the two seemed to be having a good time together and dancing. Another clip, also from that party, of Muskaan feeding Sahil birthday cake and kissing him emerged. These are viral on social media, as well as heightening the controversial nature of the case.

The authorities said that Muskaan and Sahil confessed to stabbing Saurabh to death on March 4. They then cut his body into pieces, put the pieces in a drum, and sealed it with cement. The couple was arrested on Tuesday, following the discovery of the murder.
