A shocking on-air gaffe on Thursday night’s prime-time broadcast saw an Aaj Tak anchor mistakenly announce the death of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while reporting the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The anchor promptly corrected herself, “We are showing you the press release from AIIMS, in which it has been stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the age of 92—former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh died at the age of 92.” The gaff led to heavy trolling on social media where users did not let the anchor or the channel alone, taking it a step further to mock.

It’s not the first instance where the same anchor had received flak. This time, she was trolled for reporting on a “chip” that is believed to be embedded in the new Rs 2,000 notes, which received heavy criticism and has even been debunked. Others used social media to hilariously ask what the “channel was smoking,” while others said it’s simply too biased toward the present government.
