A Vietnamese artist who has spent three decades of his life growing out his fingernails is officially a record holder. Lưu Công Huyền has the world’s longest fingernails on a pair of hands (male), with an unbelievable measurement of 594.45 cm (19 ft 6 in). That’s more than the height of the average adult giraffe. Hanging from each hand and twisting into intricate shapes, his nails are covered in multi-colored splashes of the paint he uses to create beautiful murals on the sides of people’s houses.
When Lưu Công Huyền Ceased to Cut His Nails
Lưu Công Huyền ceased to cut his nails 34 years ago after resolving that he’d want to be a shaman just like his father. “These fingernails first began because my dad was a shaman,” he explained. “I wanted to be a teacher, so I let them grow more regal. But then my father instructed me to forget this career, saying that it’s too much of a bother and not worth it.” So I just kept growing them ever since, and they just kept getting longer. In short, if I were to cut them off, I’d feel pretty uncomfortable and tired, both in my head and body.”

The left-hand nails sum up to 388.85 cm, while the right-hand nails sum up to 205.6 cm. His longest fingernailis on the left thumb, measuring 127.5 cm (4 ft 2 in).
How Lưu Công Huyền Managed His Daily Work
Mr. Huyền highlighted that he also needs to be very careful when he’s putting on his clothes and sleeping, trying his best to ensure that his nails are not being crushed and snapped. But proving that he can still do everything he wishes to do, Mr. Huyền showed us his artistic talents, holding with great care a pot of paint in one hand and conjuring magic with the brush in the other.
