A powerful earthquake in Myanmar sent tremors across Bangkok, causing high-rise buildings to shake violently. A viral video captured a dramatic moment when water from a rooftop pool cascaded down a skyscraper, resembling a waterfall.

Korean Family Stranded Amid Earthquake Chaos

Last Friday, Myanmar was rocked by two massive earthquakes, measuring 7.7 and 6.4 in magnitude. The tremors extended to Bangkok, where a Korean family found themselves trapped on the 31st floor of a high-rise building. As the shaking intensified, a terrified child’s screams echoed through the apartment. The harrowing moment was recorded and shared widely on social media.

Rooftop Pool Waterfall Stuns Onlookers

The earthquake caused rooftop pools in Bangkok’s skyscrapers to overflow. Footage showed torrents of water pouring down the sides of buildings, creating the illusion of waterfalls. The unsettling sight added to the panic among residents and onlookers.

Families Safely Evacuated

Despite the chaos, the uploader later confirmed that the Korean family had safely evacuated. “We have descended from the 31st floor. Even the little child is safe. She did not complain even while walking down the stairs,” they shared.

Under-Construction Skyscraper Collapses in Bangkok

Beyond causing tremors, the earthquake led to the collapse of a 30-storey under-construction government building in Bangkok. Reports indicate that 43 workers were trapped inside when the structure fell due to the violent shaking.

Myanmar Identified as Earthquake Epicenter

According to AFP, the earthquake’s epicenter was 50 kilometers east of Monywa city in Myanmar. The tremors impacted not just Myanmar and Bangkok but were also felt in surrounding regions, raising concerns about further structural damage.
