Kanpur Horror: Drunk Driver Hits And Drags Woman In Burqa | WATCH

A disturbing incident took place in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on the night of November 28, 2024, when a speeding car, allegedly driven by a drunk driver, struck a woman as she was returning from a wedding. The accident occurred around 11 PM in the narrow lanes of Gangapur Colony, a residential area in Kanpur. The horrifying moment was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.

The woman, dressed in a burqa and talking on her phone, was walking on the side of the road when the speeding car hit her from behind. Despite being on the side of the road, the driver, reportedly intoxicated, lost control of the vehicle and ran over the woman, dragging her for some distance before coming to a halt. The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Witnesses revealed that the driver was heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident. Following the incident, locals managed to apprehend the driver and held him captive for nearly two hours, waiting for the police to arrive. However, despite multiple calls to emergency services, the police did not show up at the scene. The crowd eventually released the driver after taking his details, with only a warning issued.

After being freed by the crowd, the driver allegedly ran over another person, reportedly injuring his legs. Despite the severity of the two incidents, there has been no official action taken against the accused, even after two days.

The victim, speaking to reporters, claimed that her friends had to take her to the hospital. She also expressed frustration that the police had failed to act on the situation, despite being contacted through the emergency number 112. The delay in police response and lack of action has raised concerns among local residents.

The incident has sparked public outrage over the lack of law enforcement response and the reckless behaviour of the driver. The growing viral attention on social media calls for immediate action to ensure that justice is served and that such reckless driving, particularly under the influence of alcohol, does not go unpunished.
