A courtroom scene from Georgia on August 7 is going viral on social media. Regina Johnson forgave the man who killed his husband. The moment came as Joseph Tillman was sentenced to 20 years of prison time for DUI, reckless driving and homicide.

Upon hearing, Tillman started crying. That’s when Regina walked up to him and hugged him. She said, “I forgive you, and God loves you.” Tillman whispered in, “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.”

Tony Baker, the judge handling the case, called it an extraordinary moment, saying, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen the wife of a victim hug the defendant where they killed somebody.”

Chuck Johnson, husband of Regina was killed in March 2024. Tillman was reportedly under the influence of nitrous oxide when he struck Johnson while he was riding his electric bike.

The couple had been married for 50 years. The murder left Regina and her family devastated, but her act of kindness captured the attention of the entire social media.

As per the reports from People, ABC 7, and The Sun, Tillman’s sentence will allow a suspension of jail time if he completes a 2-year rehabilitation program.
