Generation Beta will officially emerge on January 1, 2025. This new generation, made up of children born between 2025 and 2039, is projected to represent 16% of the global population by 2035. Some members of Generation Beta may even live to see the 22nd century. Mark McCrindle, a social researcher known for coining generational terms, has labeled this group “Generation Beta,” following the naming conventions established by previous generations.
Generation Beta: Following Gen Alpha
Generation Beta will follow Gen Alpha (2010-2024), Gen Z (1996-2010), and millennials (1981-1996). The use of the Greek alphabet to name generations began with Generation Alpha, and Generation Beta continues this tradition, marking the start of a new era in human history.
Technology and Daily Life
As Generation Beta grows, they will experience a world where technology is deeply embedded in everyday life. They will likely encounter advancements like “autonomous transportation at scale, wearable health technologies, and immersive virtual environments.” While Generation Alpha has already witnessed the rise of smart technology and artificial intelligence (AI), Generation Beta will experience these innovations as fully integrated in all aspects of life, from education to healthcare and entertainment. McCrindle stated, “While Generation Alpha has experienced the rise of smart technology and artificial intelligence, Generation Beta will live in an era where AI and automation are fully embedded.”
Challenges Ahead for Gen Beta
Despite the technological advances, Generation Beta will also face significant challenges. Climate change, urbanization, and shifting global population dynamics will shape their world. As a result, they will need to prioritize adaptability, collaboration, and sustainability. While previous generations have shown greater eco-consciousness, Generation Beta will be expected to make sustainability a fundamental value, not just a buzzword.
McCrindle emphasized, “Understanding their needs, values, and preferences will be critical as we anticipate how they will shape the future of society.”

Generation Beta will need to find ways to connect authentically in real life, despite the growing reliance on virtual interactions. As social connection continues to evolve, they will play a crucial role in redefining what it means to engage with others meaningfully.
