A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped and assaulted after she accepted a lift in a van late on Monday night. Reportedly she suffered serious facial injuries that required 12 stitches.
The attack happened on the Gurgaon–Faridabad road, and she was later thrown out of the moving vehicle in the early hours of Tuesday.
Survivor Held Inside Van for Nearly Three Hours
Police sources said the woman was kept inside the van for almost three hours as it moved through isolated parts of Faridabad. Dense fog in the area made it difficult for her to call for help or draw attention.
The lack of people on the road also reduced her chances of being rescued during the ordeal.
Case Registered at Kotwali Police Station
After the survivor’s family filed a complaint, police registered a case at the Kotwali police station. The Faridabad crime branch detained two suspects on Tuesday in connection with the incident.
The investigation is still in progress.
What Happened Before the Attack
Police said the woman left home around 8.30 pm on Monday after an argument with her mother. She told her family she was going to visit a friend and informed her sister that she would return within two to three hours.
However, she left much later than planned and stepped out close to midnight. When she could not find transport to go back home, she accepted a lift in a van where two men were present.
Men Took Van Towards Gurgaon-Faridabad Road
Instead of taking her to her destination, the men allegedly drove towards the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road. Police said the van went beyond the Hanuman temple on that route, where both men allegedly raped her.
Her attempts to seek help failed as there were very few people on the road due to dense fog and cold weather.
Woman Thrown Out Near Raja Chowk
Around 3 am on Tuesday, the woman was allegedly pushed out of the van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar.
Despite her injuries, she managed to call her sister, who quickly took her to a hospital in Faridabad.
Doctors Provide Treatment as Police Continue Probe
Doctors initially advised shifting the woman to a hospital in Delhi for further treatment, but her family later admitted her to a private hospital in Faridabad.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and more details will emerge as the probe continues.
