A recent invention by an engineer using the handle “STS 3D” has caused a stir online, showcasing a sentry rifle powered by ChatGPT. The AI-enabled rifle, capable of taking voice commands to fire at objects of specific colors, gained widespread attention after videos of its functionality went viral on social media platforms.
In the videos, the AI-powered gun is seen responding to voice commands from the engineer. The man can be heard saying, “ChatGPT, begin color tracking on the color black,” prompting the rifle to target and fire at black balloons. The invention utilizes ChatGPT for processing commands, allowing the rifle to respond dynamically to voice inputs for color-specific targeting.
After the videos circulated widely, OpenAI stepped in, citing violations of its usage policies. The organization expressed concerns about the misuse of AI in creating potentially harmful technology. OpenAI confirmed that the engineer’s access to ChatGPT was terminated to prevent further development of the controversial project.
This incident has ignited debates around the ethical boundaries of AI application, with critics warning of potential misuse and calling for stricter regulations. The engineer has yet to comment publicly on the shutdown.
