A unique wedding celebration is making waves online as a couple chose to redefine traditions with kindness and compassion towards animals. Mayank Maithani and Mugdha Khatri, both passionate animal rescuers, made a strong statement by ditching the traditional horse-drawn carriage and promoting pet adoption during their wedding.

A viral video shared by Mugdha on Instagram shows Mayank arriving at the wedding in a car, holding posters that read, “Tradition Evolves, Kindness Stays – No Horse Carriage” and “Adopt, Don’t Shop.” The couple used their special day to spread awareness about two significant causes—discouraging the use of horses in wedding processions and encouraging pet adoption over buying from breeders.

The couple’s adopted dog, Luna, who was once abandoned after becoming paralyzed, was an important part of their baraat. By including her in the celebration, Mayank and Mugdha highlighted the importance of treating animals with love and respect. They also ensured their wedding was free of loud fireworks, acknowledging how such noises can cause distress to animals.

“The times when horses were cared for like family members are long gone. Today, many are exploited purely for business. Behind the glittering decorations and the grandeur, we often fail to see the pain in their eyes and the wounds hidden beneath the ornaments,” the couple wrote on Instagram.

The heartwarming celebration quickly gained traction, with netizens praising their thoughtful approach. Social media users called it the “Best thing” they had seen in 2025, while organizations like People for Animals (PFA) applauded their efforts. One user commented, “This is absolutely incredible! Such compassion.” Another wrote, “Wonderful! May the universe bless them with great abundance.”

The couple’s animal-friendly wedding serves as a powerful reminder that traditions can evolve while still upholding values of empathy and kindness.
