During Ramadan, a video purportedly recorded at Shah Faisal Masjid in Islamabad has gone viral, showing hundreds of men in traditional attire rushing to grab food as soon as Iftar begins.
Chaotic Iftar Scene
The clip, allegedly filmed in an affluent part of Islamabad, captures a chaotic moment as men jostle and scramble for food immediately after plates are set out. The frenzy on display has raised eyebrows and sparked a heated debate on social media.

This is not a backward area. This is Faisal Masjid in most developed area of Pakistan, Islamabad. Free iftaar (food) was announced & desperate Pakistanis (not beggars but common men) are rushing to grab their share. This is the situation of common Pakistanis in nuclear power. pic.twitter.com/IKtbCSGnz5

Social Media Backlash
Netizens have reacted strongly to the disturbing footage. One user, Bharat, commented, “They literally created a country out of non-existent fear, then tried to grab someone else’s land, letting their whole body rot just to fight for a part which is not even theirs. Nobody in history has ever been fooled more than this.” Another user, Dr. Architect, remarked, “People can’t eat nuclear energy. Wrong government priorities make people poor. In this case, beggars!” These reactions underscore the widespread disapproval of the scene.
Context and Past Incidents
This incident is not the first of its kind. In 2023, a separate video showed Pakistani men chasing a truck on motorbikes, desperately pleading for a sack of wheat. Both clips have drawn attention to the socio-economic challenges faced by parts of the population during times of hardship.
