The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has written to Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, urging the declaration of a public holiday in the national capital on January 22, 2024, for the Ram Mandir Consecration Ceremony (Pran Pratistha).
VHP’s Delhi unit president, Kapil Khanna, and secretary, Surendra Kumar Gupta, highlighted the significance of the consecration ceremony at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. They emphasized that millions of Ram devotees globally would witness this historic occasion, expressing the desire for all Ram bhakts to relish the moment.

The letter urged the declaration of January 22, 2024, as a public holiday to enable all Ram devotees to participate and enjoy the event fully.
After the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla (‘pran pratishtha’) on January 22, the newly built temple in Ayodhya will open for devotees. However, the Delhi unit of the BJP plans to celebrate the day as ‘Ram Utsav.’

BJP Delhi Chief Virendra Sachdeva announced the party’s celebration of ‘Ram Utsav’ on January 22, 2024. An internal party source suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
Champat Rai, the secretary of Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, detailed that the puja for the ‘pran pratishtha’ would commence on January 16, 2024, with the actual ‘muhurat’ around noon on January 22, 2024. After the event, puja activities will continue for an additional 48 days.
