The famed Ram Jhula suspension bridge in this town was closed to two-wheelers on Thursday due to soil erosion beyond its abutments by the Ganga, which is in flood after a recent spell of severe rainfall in Uttarakhand. Allowing two-wheelers to travel through the bridge could have been dangerous, thus the decision was made for safety concerns.
