The Rudraprayag District Administration, along with various security forces, continues its rescue efforts for pilgrims and local residents stranded in Kedarghati due to road damage caused by heavy rainfall in the Kedar Valley.
Officials reported that 18,000 food packets and 35,000 water bottles have been distributed so far. Comprehensive efforts are being made to ensure the safe rescue of all individuals.
Under the direction of the District Magistrate, relevant departments are working tirelessly to rescue and provide sustenance to the stranded devotees and pilgrims at various stops in the Kedar Valley.
District Supply Officer KS Kohli stated that since Thursday morning, arrangements have been made to provide food packets, drinking water, and meals for the stranded devotees at key stops of the Yatra. By 3:30 pm on Friday, nearly 18,000 food packets and 35,000 water bottles had been distributed at Kedarnath, Lincholi, Bhimbali, Sonprayag, Shersi, Guptkashi, Chaamasi, and other locations.
In addition, food is being supplied at various points with the assistance of GMVN and local traders. The BKTC, local public representatives, and traders are also providing full cooperation.
Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vimal Gusain reported that medical facilities have been provided to 286 people in Sonprayag, Gaurikund, and Shersi. By 3:30 pm on Friday, 582 people had been airlifted using heli services, and more than 1,500 people had been rescued manually between Sonprayag and Gaurikund.
