The Noida Super Kings won their second consecutive match in the inaugural UPT20 tournament, defeating the Gorakhpur Lions by 43 runs at Green Park Stadium.
Despite a shaky start, the Noida Super Kings set a tough goal of 183 for the Gorakhpur Lions, thanks to crucial contributions from their lower order in the shape of Aditya Sharma (70*), Prashanth Veer (40), and Samarth Singh (45).
Nitish Rana (2/8) and Naman Tiwari (2/34) each took two wickets as the Gorakhpur Lions buckled under the pressure of a huge score on a challenging surface.
Dhruv Pratap Singh’s bowling hampered the Noida Super Kings’ powerplay after they chose to bat first. With a swinging ball, he ripped through the top order, dismissing Almas Shaukat, Shantanu, and the important Nitish Rana in quick succession.
On the other hand, Noida Super Kings opener Samarth Singh (45) appeared uneasy, ensuring the team scored quickly despite the loss of wickets. They concluded the powerplay with a score of 44/3. Aditya Sharma (70*) and Samarth Singh put on a 38-run stand until Samarth Singh was caught by Ankit Chaudhary in the 12th over, leaving Noida in difficulty at 82/4.
