Zelensky Speaks Out After Trump Call: What He Said Will Surprise You

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy indicated on Wednesday that a partial ceasefire concerning energy infrastructure could be swiftly established if Russia adheres to the agreement. He stated that Kyiv would reciprocate accordingly should Moscow violate the truce.

Following a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump—their first since a tense Oval Office meeting last month—Zelenskiy revealed that Ukraine would compile a list of critical facilities for potential protection under a ceasefire.

“This list could include not only energy infrastructure but also rail and port facilities,” Zelenskiy explained during an online briefing. However, he remained cautious, stating, “Until we agree (with Russia) and have a corresponding document on even a partial ceasefire, I think that everything will fly,” referring to the continued risk of drone and missile strikes.

Trump-Zelenskiy Talks: A More Productive Exchange

Describing his conversation with Trump as “probably his most substantive and positive” yet, Zelenskiy noted that he did not feel under pressure during the call. The discussion came weeks after their February 28 meeting in Washington, which had turned confrontational in front of the global media while addressing Ukraine’s mineral resources and the broader war situation.

When asked whether he still wanted Trump to visit Ukraine, Zelenskiy confirmed his support for such a trip, believing it could strengthen U.S. efforts to mediate an end to the conflict.

Focus on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant and U.S. Involvement

One key topic of discussion between Zelenskiy and Trump was the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader suggested that Kyiv would be open to talks about U.S. investment in modernizing the plant—if it were returned to Ukrainian control.

New F-16 Deliveries to Ukraine

Zelenskiy also disclosed that Ukraine had received a fresh supply of F-16 fighter jets. However, he declined to specify the number of jets delivered or the exact timing of their arrival.

As the war continues, Kyiv remains engaged in diplomatic negotiations while seeking additional international support to counter Russian advances.
