The White House is once more in the spotlight of controversy following a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report indicating that President Donald Trump was aware in May that his name came up multiple times in the case files of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. The report states that Attorney General Pam Bondi apprised Trump of the development, which triggered renewed public scrutiny of the President’s former connections to Epstein.
While the specific circumstances of Trump’s mention within the files are murky, it ratchets up long-standing suspicions regarding the degree of his relationship with Epstein, who was notorious for attracting high-profile individuals in 1990s Manhattan. Although no direct proof of wrongdoing on Trump’s part has emerged, the report prompted a stern reaction from the administration.
Trump Denies WSJ Allegations, Sues Over 2003 Letter
The situation became even more serious after WSJ reported another article claiming that Trump penned a lewd birthday letter to Epstein back in 2003. The President refuted the accusation strongly and sued the publication.
Reacting to the new findings, the White House made a general denial, terming the report “fake.” “The White House is not surprised at this — Trump’s name was included in the binders that Bondi created and distributed,” a White House official said to CNN.
They underscored that the Justice Department already released documents with Trump’s name and reassured that there is no sign of foul play.
White House Makes Political Conspiracy Claims
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung doubled down on the administration’s denial of the report. This is nothing but an extension of the fabricated news reports manufactured by the Democrats and the liberal press, akin to the Obama Russiagate hoax, which President Trump was correct about,” he said to CNN.
To divert attention from increasing suspicion, the Trump presidency resuscitated the Obama “Russiagate” conspiracy theory, implying the previous President led a conspiracy to besmirch Trump.
Tulsi Gabbard Accuses Obama-Led “Coup
Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, asserted during a White House press briefing that Obama had orchestrated a “years-long coup” by abusing intelligence reports to pin Russian election interference on Trump.
“Irrefutable evidence” demonstrates Obama ordered the assessments to be slanted, Gabbard claimed. Contrary to the assertion, four independent investigations between 2019 and 2023 concluded Russia did meddle in the 2016 election and in ways that benefited Trump.
Epstein’s Shadow Still Looms
Jeffrey Epstein, who was a financier and associated with high-profile individuals such as Trump, was charged with sex offenses and went on to die in prison in 2019. His death, which was determined to be a suicide, fueled far-reaching conspiracy theories. Trump allies think Epstein’s secrets are still hidden, perhaps involving world elites.
While Trump has said that he parted ways with Epstein years ago, “He kicked him out of his club for being a creep,” Cheung said, the new spotlight surrounding the files could still dog his presidency.
