A viral clip featuring Elon Musk’s four-year-old son, X, eagerly bouncing alongside US President Donald Trump has ignited criticism online, with some users jokingly referring to Trump as the toddler’s “nanny.” In the clip, Trump is observed walking alongside the toddler as he happily bounces before Trump assists him in getting onto a Marine One plane, with Musk bringing up the rear. Once the video went viral, Musk reposted a picture of the moment, captioning it, “That’s a happy picture.”
The clip evoked a range of reactions on the internet. While some thought the moment was sweet and cute, others were taken aback by the US president appearing to ‘babysit’ Musk’s son at the White House. One of them said, “Lord Elon turned a USA president into a babysitter,” while another posted, “A car salesman has turned the President of the United States into a babysitter. America is not a real place, man.”
One Twitter user joked, “Trump finally got his first real job. Officially little x’s nanny. Elon Musk hired the US president to babysit.”

Others asked how frequently Musk took his son to the White House, as the toddler had been spotted several times in the Oval Office and with Trump. “Does this kid live at the White House now?” one user asked.
Even Trump fans were uncomfortable with Musk’s son visiting the White House so often. “I love Trump, and little X is adorable as a bug, but this is like the third time this week that Trump appears to be babysitting. Where’s his mom?” another person joked, “It’s good Elon has Trump babysitting now. At least he’s keeping Trump occupied while he runs things.”
Musk’s son also appeared in the Oval Office last month as Trump signed an executive order proclaiming federal job reductions. His mother, musician Grimes, was surprised by the episode, which she wrote, “He shouldn’t be out in public like this. I did not notice it. Thank you for letting me know. But I’m happy he was courteous. Sigh.”
