Washington, DC [US]: US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed that American national security is at its strongest, citing recent successful military strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
Highlighting Successful Military Strikes
In an interview at the White House, Trump said, “Our national security is stronger than it has ever been. We have had very successful and numerous attacks on that area (Yemen).” He described the Houthis as a serious threat, saying, “These are the people that shoot down ships right out of the water. They also happen to be shooting anything that is flying through the area.”
Houthis on the Run
Trump claimed that the Houthi forces are now in retreat, adding, “The worst ones have been killed. This should have been done a long time ago.” He emphasized the dangers posed by the Houthis, saying, “They randomly shoot missiles at ships and make their own missiles.”
Response to Media Concerns
Addressing concerns over potential leaks of classified information, Trump clarified, “There was no classified information, as I understand. They used an app that a lot of people in the government and the media use.”
Criticism of The Atlantic
Trump also took aim at The Atlantic, dismissing its credibility by stating, “The Atlantic is a failed magazine and nobody gives a damn about it.”
Support for NSA Mike Waltz
Trump expressed strong support for NSA Mike Waltz, describing him as “a very good man who will continue to do a good job.” Waltz echoed Trump’s sentiments, criticizing media misinformation and saying, “There are a lot of journalists in the city who have made big names for themselves, making up lies about this President.”
Ongoing Security Efforts
Waltz highlighted the administration’s coordinated security efforts, stating, “We have a National Security team that was coordinating these efforts.” He credited Trump’s leadership for strengthening national security and improving global stability.
