Trump And Netanyahu To Meet Twice Amid Gaza Ceasefire: What’s On The Agenda?

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are scheduled to meet twice in Washington on Tuesday, Axios reported. The two will hold a working lunch at noon Eastern Time (1700 GMT), followed by an informal dinner with their spouses, according to a source familiar with the plans.

At such a time as this, where six weeks of fragile ceasefire have lasted, thus putting on temporary hold 15 months of intense fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, comes the high-profile visit. It is confirmed by both governments to meet earlier this week, as it is supposed to address regional tensions and security concerns where leaders will seek to ensure diplomatic relations during the temporary pause of hostilities.

This means that Trump and Netanyahu have always been friends as they both shared the experience of cooperation over years in Middle East security, which included their strong interest in dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The talks might further strengthen the US-Israel partnership, especially with mounting international pressures on a more permanent solution to the Gaza conflict.
