Six Arrested at London Protest Backing Tommy Robinson

The Metropolitan Police arrested six individuals on Saturday as thousands of Tommy Robinson supporters gathered in central London, clashing with counter-protesters from Stand Up To Racism.

The rally, organized under the name “Stop the Isolation” or “Unite the Kingdom,” called for Robinson’s release from prison, while counter-demonstrators protested against racism and far-right ideologies.

Protests and Counter-Protests in Westminster

  • Tommy Robinson Supporters: Marched from Waterloo Station to Whitehall, chanting “We want our country back” and “We want Tommy out.” Many wore “MEGA – Make England Great Again” hats and “I am Tommy” stickers.
  • Counter-Protest by Stand Up To Racism: Demonstrators gathered in Whitehall, opposing racism, Islamophobia, and antisemitism, vowing not to let the far-right divide society.

Police Arrest Six Amid Rising Tensions

By 4 PM, the Metropolitan Police confirmed six arrests, including:

  • A flare being set off in the crowd.
  • An individual spitting at a police officer near Waterloo.
  • Three arrests in Whitehall after Robinson’s supporters entered the counter-demo area in breach of conditions.
  • One arrest under the Public Order Act.

Police Prepared for Protest Clashes

Commander Louise Puddefoot stated that the force was well-prepared for the demonstrations and had deployed officers in significant numbers.

“We acted swiftly to prevent disorder and ensure public safety,” she said.
