As Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Washington for his much-anticipated two-day visit, renowned African-American actress and singer Mary Millben shared her enthusiasm about the occasion. Millben, who previously performed the Indian national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ for PM Modi, reflected on the memorable experience and highlighted the significance of his visit for the Indian-American community.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Mary Millben expressed her excitement, saying, “It is wonderful that PM Modi is returning to the United States. When he visited in 2023, I had the honor of singing the Indian National Anthem for him and the Indian-American community.”
India’s Growing Role in US Relations
Millben emphasized India’s crucial role as a key partner to the US in addressing global challenges. She also acknowledged the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations, referencing previous engagements between former President Donald Trump and PM Modi.

“During President Trump’s first term, the US-India relationship was strong, and the bond between the two leaders was evident. I look forward to seeing what they will discuss during this visit,” she stated.
PM Modi Receives Grand Welcome in Washington
Upon his arrival in Washington, PM Modi was greeted by enthusiastic members of the Indian diaspora, who chanted slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Modi Modi” outside Blair House. Modi shook hands and waved at supporters before heading to his official engagements.
India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, along with senior officials, welcomed Modi at the airport. This marks Modi’s first visit to the US since Donald Trump assumed office for his second term.
Key Meetings on Modi’s Agenda
According to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Modi’s visit includes high-level meetings with US President Donald Trump, key cabinet members, and prominent industry leaders. The discussions aim to strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, covering trade, defense, and technology collaboration.
