Eric Trump, son of former US President Donald Trump, is reportedly in discussions to introduce a new line of Trump-branded vodka in the United States, according to CBS News. This venture could involve a collaboration between Eric Trump Wineries and a limited liability company under a licensing agreement for the Trump name. Despite Donald Trump’s well-known teetotaling stance, the Trump family seems open to pursuing the vodka business.
“Given the success of Trump Winery and Trump Cidery in Charlottesville, Virginia, several groups have approached our team about expanding our offerings to include spirits,” Eric Trump said in a statement. He emphasized that discussions remain preliminary and no decisions have been finalized.
Trump Vodka: A Comeback Attempt
This isn’t the first time the Trump brand has ventured into the vodka industry. In 2005, a licensing deal launched Trump Vodka, with the Republican leader predicting that “Trump and Tonic” would dominate American bars. However, the brand struggled and ceased US sales in 2011. It has since been absent from the list of assets disclosed in Trump’s presidential campaigns.
Expanding the Trump Brand
The Trump family is no stranger to leveraging their name for business ventures. From hats and wristwatches to perfumes and books, the Trump name has adorned a variety of products.
In 2023, Donald Trump’s ventures included $60 Bibles and limited-edition shoes, both of which generated nearly $399,000 in revenue. His most successful initiative, however, has been the sale of digital NFTs, which brought in approximately $7.2 million in licensing fees. Notable among these were “Mugshot Edition” trading cards, featuring pieces of his suit and exclusive dinner offers at Mar-a-Lago.
Future of Trump Vodka
While plans for the vodka line remain in their infancy, the potential relaunch could signal a new chapter in the Trump family’s business endeavours. Given the mixed history of Trump Vodka, its future success remains uncertain.
