A Florida man and woman were arrested after they were spotted having sex on a grave at an historic cemetery, according to People. Their arrest also revealed methamphetamine and prescription drugs in their vehicle.

Joseph Luke Brown, 38, and Stephanie Kay Wegman, 46, both of Webster reportedly abandoned their Nissan car beside the closed front gate of the cemetery, established in 1850. The couple then walked toward a more secluded area at the rear, where the officers discovered them on March 26.

A state trooper had first noticed their car, which had rolled down windows and was owned by Wegman and her husband, Anthony Johnson. Suspicious from the fact that the car had been left open and near the gate, authorities began to investigate the surrounding area.

Drugs Confiscated

After finding the couple, officers also checked the car and discovered methamphetamine, Xanax, and oxycodone within. Wegman was detained on drug charges and booked at the county jail. Brown, who suffered a pre-existing injury to his leg, was rushed to a hospital. Authorities reported that a warrant would be procured for Brown, although his exact charges were not initially made public.

The cemetery, which lies in a semi-rural area of Florida, had its last documented burial in 1924 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.
