A leaked, confidential memo revealed the air travel habits of the world’s wealthiest man, Elon Musk, as a result of a cyberattack on NetJets, a private aircraft service, reported Bloomberg.
The leak purportedly granted the hackers access to a number of internal memos, one describing how the SpaceX and Tesla chief likes to fly. Although NetJets hasn’t confirmed the legitimacy of the leaked memo, according to insiders, it’s routine for flight crew members to take “passenger service plans” customized for each client along.
The memo, which was issued on November 2024, presents a description of Musk as a quiet and independent passenger. “Mr. Musk sees himself as independent and doesn’t require assistance with technology if he does, he will ask,” read one of the crew guidelines.
Chilly Cabin and No Chit-Chat
The Tesla CEO is said to prefer an 18-degree Celsius cabin temperature and low light levels during the entire flight. He also asks that all passenger air vents be turned off to minimize noise within the cabin.
Characterized as ‘nice, laid-back’, Musk allegedly refuses to indulge in small talk with flight crew members and enjoys napping, even on shorter flights. He is also not too concerned with fuel efficiency, choosing flights that are quick and straight.
Musk’s Jet Habits in Public Eye
This is not the first time Elon Musk’s air travel habits have been in the public eye. The billionaire closed down a social media account last year that was devoted to following his private plane. Though he is vocal on social media, Musk keeps his personal life mostly under wraps, so this specific leak is particularly intriguing.
To date, NetJets continues to look into the cyberattack. The incident allegedly started when a hacker was able to deceive an employee into surrendering their login information.
