Elon Musk, Tesla CEO and a key member of President Donald Trump’s administration, may soon access classified military plans for a possible war with China. The New York Times reported that Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will visit the Department of Defense on Friday. Since Musk has already played a significant role in government cost-cutting measures, this move could further expand his influence.
Pentagon Confirms Musk’s Visit
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has confirmed Musk’s upcoming visit. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell told, “The Defense Department is excited to welcome Elon Musk to the Pentagon on Friday. He was invited by Secretary Hegseth and is just visiting.” Notably, this visit would strengthen Musk’s position in the Trump administration, where he has been leading efforts to reduce spending and remove policies deemed unnecessary.
Details of the War Plan
According to The New York Times, the classified military plan contains 20 to 30 slides. Specifically, it outlines strategies for a potential conflict with China, including key targets and attack timelines. Eventually, officials will present the plan to President Trump for further discussion and approval.
Musk’s Security Clearance and Government Oversight
At the same time, CNN reported that Musk holds top-secret security clearance. However, under US government rules, he must demonstrate a “need to know” before accessing any classified information. While Musk serves as a special government employee, his growing involvement in national security has raised concerns among officials.
No Official Confirmation Yet
So far, neither Musk nor the White House has confirmed the Pentagon visit. Nevertheless, his increasing role in government decision-making continues to attract scrutiny.
