AgniWarrior 2024: India-Singapore Bilateral Exercise Set To Kick Off In Maharashtra

The India-Singapore bilateral military exercise, AgniWarrior 2024, is set to take place in Maharashtra from November 28 to November 30. Details about the exercise were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army).

The exercise will be conducted at the Devlali Field Firing Ranges, part of the School of Artillery in Maharashtra. Its primary objective is to enhance professional military interactions between the artillery units of the Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces.

The ADGPI noted that the exercise will facilitate the exchange of best practices between the two nations’ armies. Additionally, it will provide a platform for cultural exchanges, further strengthening the bond between India and Singapore.

The exercise follows the visit of Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Singapore’s Minister of Defence, to India last month. Dr. Ng co-chaired the sixth India-Singapore Defence Ministers’ Dialogue in New Delhi with his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh. During the dialogue, the ministers agreed to intensify defence cooperation and set new milestones as the two countries approach 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2025. They also extended the bilateral agreement on the Joint Military Training Army for an additional five years.

The ministers recognized the natural partnership between India and Singapore for co-development and co-production of defence equipment. They pledged to enhance industry cooperation, with a focus on collaboration in niche areas such as automation and artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that India-Singapore relations were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024. With a shared history, a long tradition of trust and mutual respect, and extensive cooperation across diverse sectors, India-Singapore ties have deepened and diversified over the years.
