A 47-year-old female has announced plans to undergo a blood transfusion using the blood of her 23-year-old son. She will preserve her youthful appearance by doing so. According to her, her son supports this and even proposed that the same should be done for his grandmother.
Los Angeles resident Marcela Iglesias, who describes herself as a “human Barbie,” said, “Blood transfusion is the new era of maintaining young cells in your system, especially when it comes from your own son or daughter.” She found the procedure after earlier researching stem cell therapy, believing it offers great benefits. “There can be many benefits from the cells of a younger donor, especially if the donor is my own son,” she said.
How Blood Transfusions Work
According to Iglesias to The Sun, blood transfusions bring fresh red blood cells that help carry oxygen throughout the body, while plasma delivers proteins and clotting factors, aiding healing and recovery. However, even though she was excited about the prospect, scientific evidence for anti-aging benefits of such procedures is very limited.
FDA Warning on Plasma Infusions
The FDA also issued a warning in 2019 regarding risks of plasma infusion from young donors, stating that they pose “significant public health concerns.” The FDA further added that “There is no proven clinical benefit of infusion of plasma from young donors to cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent these conditions,” and then pointed out related risks.
Beauty Routine of Marcela Iglesias
Iglesias, who has spent more than $99,000 on cosmetic procedures, is now looking for doctors in Los Angeles to oversee her planned treatment. Her health routine is quite strict, involving an hour of exercise every day, eight hours of sleep, and a pescatarian diet that excludes meat, sugary drinks, soy products, and alcohol. She also spends over $1,000 a month on wellness treatments, including vitamins, injections, and IV therapies. She thinks that the decision has received mixed reactions, but she remains true to her quest for anti-aging as part of her disciplined approach to health and beauty.
