British Prime Minister Keir Starmer sacked junior health minister Andrew Gwynne on Saturday after reports of offensive messages he wrote on WhatsApp.

Gwynne apologized on the social media platform X, terming his remarks as a “badly misjudged” mistake, after the reports of sharing inappropriate messages in a private chat by “Mail on Sunday”.

“I deeply regret my badly misjudged comments and apologise for any offense I’ve caused,” Gwynne wrote. “I entirely understand the decisions the PM and the party have taken and, while very sad to have been suspended, will support them in any way I can.”

Starmer’s office has not returned requests for comment on the move.
