The Viral Video: Dough at 30,000 Feet

The video, which has been widely shared on Instagram, shows the vlogger preparing sourdough bread dough mid-flight on her way to Spain. The clip starts with the text, “Making Sourdough Bread on my flight to Spain,” followed by the vlogger explaining her motivation: “I want to surprise my sister with a fresh loaf of bread.” She proceeds to mix flour, water, starter, and salt in a large container, kneading the dough and letting it rest, all while thousands of feet above sea level. The video ends with the words, “Sleep during bulk fermentation.”

Social Media Reactions: Praise and Backlash

The vlogger’s in-flight culinary experiment quickly drew attention, amassing 1.1 million views. However, the video also sparked a wave of criticism. Many Instagram users took to the comments section to express their disapproval.

“This is ridiculous! All for social media attention. Geez!,” commented one user. Another added, “This is inconsiderate to everyone on the plane who is allergic to wheat and/or gluten. If I sat next to you, I would request a different seat and a full refund right away because even inhaling the flour would make me sick for several weeks. Please be more considerate next time.” The vlogger responded apologetically, saying, “Thanks for letting me know. I won’t be doing this again. I’m sorry.”

Other users echoed similar sentiments, calling the act “unhygienic” and “too much.” One user bluntly commented, “A plane is not somewhere to make food. If someone told me they did that on a flight, my first reaction would be GURL WHY?”
