On Monday, after the attack, Dobie launched a GoFundMe targeting $25,000 for medical expenses. Response overwhelming-donations surged over $40,000, doubling over the goal in no time. Hundreds of supporters praised him for his act of bravery, wishing him a complete recovery.
Outstanding Warrant Arrest for Kenyon Dobie
In a surprise turn of events, Dobie was arrested days after the stabbing. The court documents show the charge is not connected to the rail incident. He has been accused of hitting somebody and causing facial fractures, an accusation leveled at him on October 18. The charge is assault inflicting serious bodily injury. Dobie was booked into jail Wednesday night after being identified through the stabbing case. He has been denied bond and will appear before the court on Thursday. Officials said Dobie was arrested on an outstanding warrant prior to the light rail attack.

The suspect, Oscar Solarzano, was consuming alcohol inside the train. Another passenger asked him to stop. An argument blew up and escalated quickly Solerzano pulled a big knife and stabbed the first passenger. Dobie intervened and was stabbed multiple times. Both were taken to the hospital immediately.
Who Is the Suspect, Oscar Solarzano?
Police identified the attacker as 33-year-old Oscar Solarzano, a Honduran immigrant living in the U.S. illegally.

Solarzano was reportedly intoxicated, with “red glassy eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol,” police said. He fled the scene but was later arrested near Parkwood Station in NoDa. Records reveal that he was prohibited from another light rail system in October 2025 because of carrying a knife. He was booked on multiple counts, including assault with a deadly weapon.
