Hyderabad: BJP Telangana Chief Spokesperson N.V. Subash on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of politicising the genuine concerns of students instead of offering meaningful solutions to examination-related challenges.
Addressing the media, Subash said students should not be treated as political tools and that every issue affecting examinations cannot be converted into a political campaign. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi was attempting to create anxiety among lakhs of young aspirants rather than contributing constructive ideas to strengthen the education system.
The BJP leader said the Congress party must first answer for its own record on education, claiming that India’s education sector had long suffered from corruption, opacity, poor infrastructure and the unchecked growth of coaching mafias during Congress rule.
Highlighting measures taken by the Narendra Modi-led government, Subash said the Centre has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards examination fraud. He pointed to the enactment of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, stricter penalties against paper leak networks, enhanced powers for investigative agencies and technology-driven reforms aimed at improving transparency and credibility in examinations.
He further stated that while Rahul Gandhi focuses on political messaging, the BJP government is implementing long-term systemic reforms, including the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which he described as one of the most significant educational reforms in independent India.
Questioning the Congress party’s credibility, Subash asked whether Congress-ruled states had completely eliminated paper leaks and examination irregularities, asserting that accountability should apply equally to all governments.
In a separate statement, Subash said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again demonstrated that the safety of Indian citizens remains a national priority. Referring to Modi’s reported intervention with US President Donald Trump on the safety of Indian seafarers, he said the move reflected India’s growing global stature and commitment to protecting its citizens.
Subash noted that India continues to champion freedom of navigation and global maritime security, stressing that secure sea lanes are essential for international trade and economic stability. Referring to the recent loss of three Indian sailors in a US strike, he said civilian lives and commercial shipping must never become casualties of geopolitical conflicts.
Reiterating India’s support for peace and diplomacy in West Asia, Subash said the country would continue to advocate the protection of seafarers and global maritime security under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
