UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed meets FM of Malta, signs three MoUs

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Ian Borg, Malta’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade.
During the discussion, which was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, possibilities of strengthening cooperation and partnership within the framework of the two friendly countries excellent bilateral relations were discussed. The meeting addressed a number of issues of interest, including the development of economic and trade cooperation, as well as investing in opportunities for cooperation in combating climate change, particularly with the UAE hosting the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai in November.

The two ministers discussed collaborative cooperation within international organizations and exchanged perspectives on regional and international topics of concern.
The UAE’s top diplomat welcomed the Maltese minister’s visit and stressed the two countries’ special relationship. He emphasized the UAE’s desire to strengthen and expand cooperation in order to accomplish the two nations’ and peoples’ common interests.
The Maltese Foreign Minister, for his part, stressed his country’s desire to expand bilateral relations with the UAE in a variety of spheres. He praised the UAE’s developmental achievements on a variety of fronts, as well as its leadership role at the regional and international levels.

Following the meeting, the two ministers signed three memorandums of understanding on maritime affairs, youth, and sports.
