Two-day workshop on Drone Technology inaugurated at JU’s Bhaderwah Campus

A two-day workshop focusing on “Drone Technology and its applications” commenced at the Department of Computer Science & IT, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu. The event, organized in collaboration with iHUB Divya Sampark IIT Roorkee and technically supported by the “Jammu and Kashmir ACM Professional Chapter,” drew nearly 200 participants from various educational institutions, departments of Bhaderwah Campus, Indian Army officials and jawans, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff.

Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, commended the Bhaderwah Campus for organizing the workshop on a topic of significant importance. He encouraged participants to actively engage and utilize the platform to enhance their understanding of Drone Technology.

The Chief Guest, Harvinder Singh (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Doda, congratulated the Bhaderwah Campus for orchestrating such an event on a topic of paramount importance. He highlighted the numerous benefits of drone technology in various sectors, underscoring its significance in contemporary times.

Prof. J. P. Singh Joorel, Rector of Bhaderwah Campus and Patron of the workshop, expressed appreciation to the Department of Computer Science & IT for spearheading the workshop. He emphasized its role in equipping participants with valuable insights into drone technology, promising an enriching experience for all involved.

Sunil Kesar (JKPS), Superintendent of Police (SP) Operation Doda, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. He delivered a discourse on the importance of drone technology, particularly in addressing security concerns, emphasizing its pivotal role in ensuring safety and security.

Dr. Jatinder Manhas, the Convenor of the workshop, outlined the agenda, covering topics ranging from Introduction to Drone Technology to Future Trends and Career Opportunities. He highlighted the workshop’s diverse sessions, including hands-on drone flying sessions and applications in various sectors.

Dr. Abid Sarwer, Co-Convenor of the Workshop, delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and sponsors for their support and contributions towards making the workshop a success. The event promises to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge in the field of drone technology, fostering innovation and learning among participants.
