On Tuesday afternoon, security forces detained two Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station for illegally entering India, as confirmed by police officials. This action marks a significant step in border enforcement efforts.
Identities and Travel Plans Revealed
The authorities identified the detained individuals as Mohammed Jalal Awladar, 40, and Ruma Begum, 25, along with her 4-year-old daughter, Raima. They are residents of the Bagerhat district in Bangladesh. Reportedly, they planned to board a train and continue their journey to other Indian states.
Joint Operation Leads to Successful Arrest
Acting on confidential information, the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), Border Security Force (BSF), and Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF) joined forces in an operation that led to the arrests. Now, the individuals face questioning at the Agartala GRP police station. Officials also hinted at potential additional arrests as investigations move forward.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
Following the arrest, the Agartala GRP station registered a formal case. The detainees will appear in court on Wednesday. Meanwhile, investigations continue as authorities dig deeper into the case for further insights.
Recent Joint Operation in Sabroom
Just days earlier, on November 4, another coordinated operation led to the arrest of eight individuals, including three Indian and five Bangladeshi nationals, near Sabroom in South Tripura district. Security forces apprehended the group at Jalkumbha around 2:40 pm, underscoring their focus on border security.
BSF’s High Vigilance at the Border
In an official statement, the BSF reported, “All three Indian nationals were apprehended while crossing the border and are residents of Baikhora, South Tripura district. All the Bangladeshi nationals are residents of village Jagannath, PS Ramgarh, Khagracheri in Bangladesh.” As investigations proceed, the BSF emphasized its commitment to border security, stating that it maintains a high level of vigilance along the border to prevent any unauthorized entry.
