On Monday night, a horrific accident in Delhi resulted in the deaths of a police constable and an unidentified civilian near the Tibetan market. The incident occurred between 10:15 and 10:30 PM while the constable, identified as Victor, was on patrol duty.
The accident took place on the ring road, directly across from the Tibetan market. A Delhi Transportation Corporation (DTC) bus lost control and collided with a unipole, which is an advertising billboard. The impact caused the pole to topple onto the road. As a result, the bus then struck both Victor and the civilian before careening onto the divider.
At the time of the crash, the bus had no passengers, apart from a DTC official.
Driver’s Details
Vinod Kumar, 57, the driver of the bus, has been apprehended by the police. Kumar has been employed with DTC since 2010 and was driving route 261, which operates between Sarai Kale Khan ISBT and Nand Nagri when the incident occurred.
Injuries and Response
Constable Victor, who had been serving at the Civil Lines police station since June 2023, suffered severe injuries to his face, head, and neck. Emergency responders transported him to Parmanand Hospital, but he was unfortunately declared dead upon arrival. At the time of the accident, he was riding a PCR (Police Control Room) bike as part of his night patrol duties.
Ongoing Investigation
