US Halts Key Missile Aid To Ukraine Amid Fears Of Drained Pentagon Stockpiles

Citing depleted reserves, the Pentagon has halted key air defense and precision munitions shipments to Ukraine, raising concerns about Kyiv’s defense as Russia advances in southeastern regions and intensifies airstrikes.

The Pentagon has suspended temporarily deliveries of some air-defence missiles and other precision weapons to Ukraine due to concerns that US reserves have fallen to uncomfortable levels, two people informed with the move said Tuesday. The delay, instituted in recent days, concerns weapons committed during former president Joe Biden’s last months but now progressing under President Donald Trump’s administration. Among them are delayed interceptor missiles intended to shoot down Russian drones and cruise missiles, as well as other guided rounds in desperate need on the front lines, the officials added. American defence officials have made no official announcement of the pause, and no official policy shift has been announced. Deliveries had previously stopped for a brief period in February and also in March before the Trump administration released previously authorised assistance. The disruption is timed as Russian troops already controlling about one‑fifth of Ukraine maintain steady pushes in the south‑eastern Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk districts while stepping up country‑wide air attacks. Without new interceptors, Ukraine’s ability to defend cities, power plants, and logistics lines might be stretched further. Politico initially reported the move Tuesday afternoon based on unidentified sources.
